Is Kalanchoe toxic to pets?
Kalanchoe plants contain bufadienolides, which are cardiac glycosides that can be toxic to domestic animals such as cats, dogs, and horses. Ingestion of any part of the plant, especially the flowers, can lead to severe adverse clinical signs including vomiting, excessive drooling, diarrhea, lethargy, and in more serious cases, abnormal heart rhythms or cardiac arrest. Pet owners should keep these plants completely out of reach or avoid bringing them into homes where animals roam freely.
