Is Fishtail Palm toxic to pets?
The Fishtail Palm contains calcium oxalate crystals throughout its foliage and fruits. If ingested by pets such as cats or dogs, these needle-like crystals cause immediate irritation, intense burning of the mouth and tongue, excessive drooling, difficulty swallowing, and vomiting. Direct contact with the plant sap can also cause localized skin irritation. It is strongly advised to keep this plant completely out of reach of curious household pets to prevent accidental poisoning and severe discomfort.
