Is Carnation toxic to pets?
Carnations contain natural compounds that can cause mild to moderate toxicity in domestic pets such as cats and dogs. Ingestion of the leaves, stems, or flowers typically results in gastrointestinal irritation, including vomiting, diarrhea, and hypersalivation. Additionally, dermal contact with the sap of the plant can provoke localized skin irritation, dermatitis, or allergic reactions in sensitive animals. Pet owners should keep these plants out of reach of curious animals to prevent accidental poisoning.
