Is Feverfew toxic to pets?
Feverfew is considered toxic to domestic pets such as cats, dogs, and horses if ingested in large quantities. The plant contains active compounds like parthenolide, which can cause irritation of the mucous membranes in the mouth, excessive drooling, vomiting, diarrhea, and general gastrointestinal distress. Additionally, contact with the fresh plant foliage can sometimes lead to contact dermatitis in sensitive animals. Pet owners should ensure that curious animals are restricted from grazing on feverfew plants in the garden.
