Is Tansy toxic to pets?
Tansy is considered highly toxic to dogs, cats, horses, and livestock. The plant contains a volatile oil called thujone, which can cause severe poisoning when ingested. Symptoms of toxicity in pets include vomiting, violent trembling, rapid heart rate, liver damage, convulsions, and potentially death. Because of these dangerous properties, pets should be strictly kept away from areas where tansy grows, and homeowners should avoid planting it in accessible enclosures.
