Is Cheesewood toxic to pets?
Cheesewood contains natural saponins and other chemical compounds that can be moderately toxic to domestic pets such as dogs and cats if ingested in large quantities. Consumption of the leaves, bark, or sticky fruit capsules may lead to gastrointestinal irritation, resulting in symptoms such as excessive drooling, vomiting, diarrhea, and general lethargy. While fatalities are rare, pet owners should exercise caution and prevent animals from chewing on the plant material. If ingestion occurs and persistent symptoms arise, consultation with a veterinarian is strongly advised to ensure proper supportive care and recovery for the affected animal.
