Is Wayfaring Tree toxic to pets?
The Wayfaring Tree contains compounds in its bark, leaves, and particularly its unripe berries that can cause significant gastrointestinal upset in pets. Ingestion by dogs, cats, or horses may lead to symptoms such as excessive drooling, vomiting, abdominal pain, and severe diarrhea. Although mature wildlife often consume the berries without apparent immediate issue, domestic pets lack the same tolerance and should be strictly prevented from chewing on or swallowing any part of this plant to avoid poisoning.
