Is Buddha's Hand toxic to pets?
Buddha's hand, like other citrus plants, contains essential oils such as limonene and linalool, along with psoralens, which are toxic to household pets including dogs, cats, and horses. Ingestion of the plant parts, leaves, or fruit rinds can lead to significant gastrointestinal upset characterized by vomiting, excessive drooling, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. Additionally, dermal exposure to the plant sap can cause photosensitivity and skin irritation in sensitive animals. Pet owners should ensure that these plants are kept well out of reach to prevent accidental consumption or contact.
