Is Kumquat toxic to pets?
Kumquat trees, like many other members of the Citrus genus, contain essential oils such as limonene and linalool, alongside psoralens, which are toxic to common household pets including cats and dogs. Ingestion of any part of the plant, including leaves, stems, flowers, or unwashed fruit peels, can lead to adverse clinical signs such as vomiting, diarrhea, excessive drooling, lethargy, and dermatitis. It is strongly advised to keep kumquat plants well out of reach of curious pets to prevent accidental poisoning and ensure their ongoing safety and well-being.
