Is European Mistletoe toxic to pets?
Mistletoe is considered severely toxic to domestic pets such as dogs and cats according to the ASPCA. Ingestion of any part of the plant, especially the berries and leaves, can cause significant gastrointestinal distress including severe vomiting and diarrhea, changes in blood pressure, loss of balance, seizures, and in extreme cases, cardiovascular collapse or death. Immediate veterinary intervention is strongly advised if a pet is suspected of ingesting mistletoe.
