Is Gum Tree toxic to pets?
Gum trees contain essential oils such as eucalyptol, which are highly toxic to household pets including dogs, cats, and horses. Ingestion of leaves, bark, or extracted oils can lead to severe gastrointestinal distress, hypersalivation, vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, and weakness. In larger amounts, it may cause central nervous system depression or seizures. Immediate veterinary attention is strongly recommended if any pet is suspected of consuming parts of the eucalyptus tree.
