Is Golden Shower Tree toxic to pets?
The Golden Shower Tree contains compounds such as sennosides, anthraquinones, and various toxic glycosides found predominantly in the seed pods, leaves, and pulp. Ingestion by pets such as dogs, cats, or horses can lead to severe gastrointestinal distress, characterized by acute abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, severe diarrhea, and subsequent dehydration. Immediate veterinary intervention is strongly recommended if any domestic animal consumes portions of this plant, particularly the seeds or mature seed pods.
