Is Baseball Plant toxic to pets?
The Baseball Plant contains a milky white latex sap within its stems and tissues that is considered toxic to household pets such as dogs and cats. If a pet manages to bite, chew, or break open the plant stem, this irritating latex will ooze out and can cause severe contact dermatitis, painful skin irritation, and blistering. Furthermore, if the sap is ingested, it will lead to significant gastrointestinal distress, characterized by heavy drooling, persistent vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. In severe cases involving contact with the eyes, temporary blindness or intense corneal irritation may occur, requiring immediate veterinary attention and supportive care to manage the discomfort.
