Is Sessile Oak toxic to pets?
Sessile oak leaves and acorns contain large amounts of tannins, which are toxic to common household pets such as dogs, cats, and horses. Ingestion of these plant parts can lead to severe gastrointestinal upset, including vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and loss of appetite. In more severe cases, systemic toxicity can cause kidney damage, lethargy, and potentially fatal complications if veterinary treatment is not sought immediately following consumption.
