Is Greater Celandine toxic to pets?
Greater Celandine is extremely toxic to pets, including cats, dogs, and horses. All parts of the plant, especially the bright orange-yellow sap, contain toxic isoquinoline alkaloids. Ingestion or physical contact with the sap can cause severe gastrointestinal irritation, vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, drooling, and potentially central nervous system depression. If you suspect your pet has ingested any part of this plant, immediate veterinary attention is strongly recommended to manage symptoms and prevent severe systemic complications.
