Is European Columbine toxic to pets?
The European Columbine contains cyanogenic glycosides and magnoflorine, which are toxic to dogs, cats, and horses when ingested in large quantities. Ingestion of any part of the plant can lead to severe gastrointestinal distress, including vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. In more serious cases, it may cause cardiac and respiratory depression. Pet owners should plant these out of reach and monitor animals closely.
