Is Snake's Head Fritillary toxic to pets?
The Snake's Head Fritillary contains dangerous alkaloids, such as imperialine and related compounds, which are profoundly toxic to domestic pets including cats and dogs. Ingestion of any part of the plant, especially the bulbs, can lead to severe clinical symptoms such as excessive drooling, vomiting, diarrhea, cardiac arrhythmias, severe lethargy, and in extreme cases, respiratory failure or fatality. Immediate veterinary attention is strongly recommended if pet ingestion is suspected.
