Is Crown Imperial toxic to pets?
The Crown Imperial plant is exceptionally toxic to household pets, including cats, dogs, and horses. All parts of the plant, but particularly the underground bulbs, contain powerful alkaloids such as imperialine and other poisonous compounds. Ingestion can lead to severe gastrointestinal distress, excessive drooling, vomiting, cardiac arrhythmias, tremors, and in severe cases, profound weakness or death. Immediate veterinary intervention is critical if a pet is suspected of consuming any portion of this plant.
