Is Greengage toxic to pets?
Greengage trees, like many members of the Prunus genus, contain cyanogenic glycosides in their leaves, stems, bark, and the seeds (pits) of the fruit. If pets ingest these parts, it can lead to severe cyanide poisoning, exhibiting symptoms such as difficulty breathing, hyperventilation, bright red gums, shock, and potentially fatal consequences if immediate veterinary assistance is not sought out.
