Is Honey Locust toxic to pets?
The honey locust tree contains compounds such as triacanthine in its leaves, bark, and pods, which can be mildly to moderately toxic to pets if ingested in significant quantities. Animals like dogs and cats that chew on the bark, thorns, or fallen pods may experience gastrointestinal distress, including vomiting, diarrhea, and drooling. The sharp thorns can also cause physical injury, puncture wounds, and secondary infections, making it advisable to keep curious pets away from wild or fallen tree debris.
