Is Horseweed toxic to pets?
Horseweed contains compounds that can cause irritation to the gastrointestinal tract of pets such as cats and dogs if ingested in significant quantities. Symptoms may include excessive drooling, vomiting, diarrhea, and general abdominal discomfort. The plant's sap and hairy leaves can also cause contact dermatitis or localized skin irritation upon physical contact. It is generally recommended to keep pets away from areas where horseweed grows abundantly to prevent accidental ingestion or skin sensitivity reactions, and consulting a veterinarian is advised if poisoning signs occur.
