Hellebore
Hellebores are remarkable perennial flowering plants belonging to the buttercup family, Ranunculaceae. Famous for their ability to bloom during the bleakest months of late winter and early spring, they provide much-needed color when most of the garden remains dormant. Their cup-shaped, nodding flowers come in an array of captivating colors including white, green, pink, purple, and deep near-black shades, often complemented by striking speckled markings. Featuring tough, evergreen, leathery foliage, hellebores are exceptionally resilient, deer resistant, and thrive beautifully in shady woodland settings where few other plants dare to bloom.
