Fishbone Cactus
The Fishbone Cactus, scientifically known as Disocactus anguliger (formerly Epiphyllum anguliger), is a fascinating epiphytic cactus native to the rainforests of Mexico. Renowned for its deeply zig-zagged, flat green stems that resemble the skeleton of a fish, this unique plant has become a wildly popular houseplant among interior decorators and plant enthusiasts alike. Unlike desert cacti that crave baking sun and arid conditions, the Fishbone Cactus thrives in the dappled, humid environment found under the rainforest canopy. In the autumn, mature plants can produce stunning, fragrant, night-blooming white or pale yellow flowers that add an extra layer of exotic charm. As a low-maintenance houseplant, it adapts remarkably well to container growing, hanging baskets, and indoor shelves where its trailing stems can cascade downwards.
