Mother of Thousands

Mother of Thousands

Mother of Thousands is a fascinating and striking succulent native to the Fiherenana river valley in Madagascar. It is globally renowned for its unique reproductive strategy, producing hundreds of tiny plantlets along the margins of its distinct, folded, arrowhead-shaped leaves. These plantlets develop roots while still attached to the parent plant, eventually dropping off to take root wherever they land. As a houseplant or garden specimen, Kalanchoe daigremontiana is exceptionally resilient, drought-tolerant, and easy to propagate. However, it requires careful handling due to its toxic nature to pets and humans alike, as well as its potential to become highly invasive in warm outdoor climates if left unchecked.
