Chenille Plant

The Chenille Plant, scientifically known as Acalypha hispida, is a fascinating tropical evergreen shrub renowned for its exceptionally long, fuzzy, bright red catkin-like flowers that cascade gracefully from the branches. Native to tropical Asia and the Malay Archipelago, this striking ornamental specimen brings a unique texture and vibrant splash of color to gardens and indoor spaces alike. The fuzzy blooms can reach impressive lengths, often resembling dangling crimson caterpillars or chenille yarn, which accounts for its whimsical common names. Thriving in warm, humid environments, the chenille plant requires consistent moisture, rich soil, and plenty of bright indirect sunlight or partial sun to maintain its continuous flowering cycle and lush green foliage throughout the year.
