Serviceberry

Amelanchier is a genus of about 20 species of deciduous shrubs and small trees belonging to the rose family, Rosaceae. They are widely distributed across temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere, primarily in North America, with some species native to Europe and Asia. Known for their stunning white blossoms in early spring, edible pome fruits that resemble blueberries in summer, and brilliant fiery orange-red foliage in autumn, serviceberries are exceptionally popular as ornamental landscape plants. They thrive in various environments, provide significant ecological value by supporting pollinators and wildlife, and yield delicious, nutrient-dense berries traditionally used in pemmican, pies, jams, and various culinary preparations by indigenous peoples and modern foragers alike.
