Common Purslane

Common Purslane, scientifically known as Portulaca oleracea, is a succulent annual herbaceous plant belonging to the Portulacaceae family. It is widely recognized for its high nutritional value, featuring thick, fleshy leaves and reddish stems that creep along the ground forming dense mats. Purslane is exceptionally resilient, tolerating poor soils, drought, and extreme heat with remarkable ease. It has a long history of human consumption and is prized globally for containing more omega-3 fatty acids than any other leafy vegetable, alongside significant amounts of vitamins A, C, and E, as well as essential minerals like magnesium and calcium.
