European Hornbeam
The European Hornbeam, scientifically known as Carpinus betulus, is a magnificent deciduous tree native to Western, Central, and Southern Europe, as well as parts of Southwest Asia. Renowned for its dense, muscular-looking grey bark and heavily veined, serrated green leaves that often persist through winter in a brown state, it is an exceptionally versatile landscape plant. Frequently utilized for formal hedges, topiary, and architectural shade due to its remarkable tolerance to heavy pruning, the European Hornbeam provides excellent privacy screens and windbreaks while supporting local wildlife habitats.
