Lesser Celandine
Lesser Celandine is a low-growing, hairless perennial herb belonging to the buttercup family Ranunculaceae. It is widely recognized for its glossy, dark green heart-shaped leaves and bright yellow, star-like flowers that emerge in early spring. Native to Europe and western Asia, it has been introduced to North America where it frequently acts as an aggressive invasive species in moist woodlands and floodplains. The plant spreads rapidly via underground tubers and bulbils, often forming dense carpets that crowd out native spring ephemerals before dying back by early summer.
