Jackfruit
The jackfruit is a species of tree in the fig, mulberry, and breadfruit family. Its fruit is the largest tree-borne fruit in the world, reaching up to 35 kilograms in weight, 90 centimeters in length, and 50 centimeters in diameter. Native to the rainforests of the Western Ghats of India, the jackfruit tree is widely cultivated in tropical regions throughout the world. It produces sweet, yellow-fleshed fruit that has a unique flavor profile often compared to a combination of banana, mango, and pineapple. The tree is also extremely valuable for its durable timber, which is resistant to termites and fungus, and its leaves can be used as fodder for livestock.
