Cloudberry

Cloudberry

Cloudberry is a prized, low-growing herbaceous perennial plant native to cool temperate regions, alpine, and arctic tundras of the Northern Hemisphere. The plant produces amber-colored, edible aggregate fruits that are highly valued for their unique, tart flavor and exceptional nutritional profile, particularly high vitamin C content. Thriving in acidic, nutrient-poor, and highly wet soils such as bogs, fens, and marshes, cloudberries are notoriously difficult to cultivate commercially because they depend heavily on their wild, pristine wetland habitats. The plant features simple, lobed leaves and delicate white flowers that bloom in early summer, eventually yielding fruits that transition from red to a rich, translucent amber color when fully ripe.
