Garlic Chives
Garlic chives, scientifically known as Allium tuberosum, are a popular perennial herb belonging to the onion family, Amaryllidaceae. Valued for their distinctive flat leaves and subtle garlic flavor rather than the sharp onion taste of standard chives, they are extensively used in Asian cuisine, particularly in Chinese, Korean, and Japanese dishes. The plant produces attractive, star-shaped white flowers in late summer that are completely edible and highly favored by local pollinators. Extremely resilient and easy to grow in home gardens or containers, garlic chives thrive across a wide range of climates and add both culinary and ornamental value to any landscape setting.
