Salad Burnet
Salad Burnet is a hardy, perennial herb belonging to the Rosaceae family, widely celebrated for its distinctive cucumber-like flavor and delicate, pinnate leaves. Native to Western, Central, and Southern Europe, as well as parts of Western Asia and Northwest Africa, this attractive plant forms a low-growing rosette of foliage from which slender stems bearing small, reddish-green flower heads emerge during the warmer months. Highly valued in culinary traditions, the fresh young leaves are frequently added to salads, dressings, soups, and cold drinks to impart a refreshing, nutty cucumber essence. Beyond its kitchen appeal, salad burnet is exceptionally resilient, tolerating drought and poor soils remarkably well, making it a wonderful addition to rock gardens, herb spirals, and wildlife-friendly perennial borders where it stays green for a large portion of the year.
