Mezereon

Mezereon is a highly toxic yet striking deciduous shrub native to temperate regions of Europe and western Asia. It is widely celebrated in horticulture for its intensely fragrant, pink to purple flowers that bloom directly on bare stems in late winter or early spring, long before any foliage appears. Following the flowers, it produces glossy, bright red berries that are extremely poisonous to humans and pets. Due to its extreme toxicity, every part of the plant requires careful handling. It thrives best in cooler climates, preferring moist, well-draining soils with partial shade conditions.
