London Plane

The London Plane is a large deciduous tree widely celebrated for its remarkable resilience to urban pollution and compacted soils, making it a popular choice for city streets and large parks. It is a hybrid between Platanus orientalis and Platanus occidentalis, featuring distinctive camouflage-like bark that exfoliates in patches. The broad, maple-like leaves provide dense shade during summer, and the species can grow to immense heights with a sprawling canopy. While generally hardy and adaptable, it requires ample space to mature properly and can occasionally drop debris like stiff seed balls.
