Yew Tree
The yew tree is an evergreen conifer renowned for its deep green needle-like foliage, distinctive fleshy red arils, and incredible longevity. As a classic ornamental and hedge plant, it tolerates severe pruning exceptionally well and holds historical significance across Europe and parts of Western Asia. Every part of the plant except the fleshy red aril surrounding the seed contains powerful taxine alkaloids, making it extremely toxic if ingested by humans and animals alike. Despite its dangerous toxicity, it remains a favorite in landscaping due to its resilience, dense growth habit, and deep cultural heritage.
