Rambutan

The rambutan is a medium-sized tropical tree belonging to the family Sapindaceae. It is native to Southeast Asia and widely cultivated for its edible fruit, which is characterized by a leathery skin covered with fleshy, pliable spines or hairs. The fruit name comes from the Indonesian word rambut, meaning hair. The translucent, juicy flesh has a sweet and sour flavor, reminiscent of grapes. The tree features pinnate leaves, small greenish-white flowers, and thrives in warm, humid tropical climates with rich, well-draining soils.
