Pomegranate

The pomegranate is a fruit-bearing deciduous shrub or small tree in the family Lythraceae that grows between five and ten meters tall. Originating from the region spanning from Iran to northern India, the pomegranate has been cultivated since ancient times throughout the Mediterranean basin and the Caucasus region. The fruit is characterized by its thick, reddish leathery skin and houses hundreds of edible seeds surrounded by a juicy, tart red pulp known as arils. Highly valued for both its ornamental flowers and its nutrient-dense fruits, the plant thrives in semi-arid climates with hot summers and cool winters, requiring well-draining soil and ample sunlight to produce sweet and flavorful fruit crops.
