Common Thyme

Common thyme is a hardy, aromatic perennial evergreen subshrub native to the Mediterranean region, widely celebrated for its culinary, medicinal, and ornamental applications. Belonging to the Lamiaceae mint family, it features small, grey-green, highly aromatic leaves and clusters of tiny pale purple or pink flowers that bloom in the spring and summer. Thyme thrives in dry, well-draining soils and demands plenty of direct sunlight to develop its full aromatic potency. It is exceptionally drought-tolerant once established and makes an excellent addition to rock gardens, herb spirals, and container plantings.
