Yew

Taxus, commonly known as yew, is a genus of small conifers belonging to the family Taxaceae. These evergreen woody plants are widely recognized for their dense, dark green needle-like foliage, reddish-brown bark, and distinctive fleshy red arils that surround their toxic seeds. Yews are exceptionally long-lived and are frequently planted as ornamental hedges or specimen trees in gardens and churchyards across temperate regions. Due to their remarkable ability to tolerate severe pruning, they are exceptionally versatile for topiaries and landscape designs. Furthermore, parts of the yew plant contain valuable chemical compounds utilized in modern medicine for treating certain forms of cancer.
