Lilly Pilly

The Lilly Pilly is an evergreen tree or large shrub native to eastern Australia and parts of Oceania, renowned for its attractive glossy foliage, fluffy white or cream-colored flowers, and vibrant pink to purple edible berries. It is exceptionally popular in landscaping as a hedging or screening plant due to its dense growth habit and ability to tolerate heavy pruning. The plant thrives in subtropical to temperate climates and adapts well to various soil conditions provided they are reasonably well-draining. Beyond its aesthetic appeal in suburban gardens, the edible fruits have a crisp, tart flavor and have traditionally been used by indigenous Australians for food, as well as in modern culinary applications for jams and jellies.
