Fragrant Olive
Osmanthus fragrans is a remarkable species of flowering plant belonging to the olive family, Oleaceae, native to Asia ranging from the Himalayas through China to southern Japan and Southeast Asia. Renowned for its intensely sweet, apricot-like fragrance, the tiny white, yellow, or orange blossoms are frequently used to scent traditional teas, pastries, and wines. These evergreen shrubs or small trees feature glossy, leathery dark green leaves with finely toothed or smooth margins, providing year-round visual appeal in gardens and landscape designs. Thriving in temperate to subtropical climates, they prefer well-draining, fertile soils and adequate sunlight to produce their legendary profuse blooms, typically during autumn.
